Accessibility at the Brandenburg Museum

It is very important to the Brandenburgische Gesellschaft für Kultur und Geschichte (BKG) that everyone is able to participate in culture. We want to make further improvements to accessibility, both to the listed Kutschstall building, where the Brandenburg Museum is located, as well as online.

Tickets

Visitors with a German disability pass B or equivalent international pass can enjoy free admission to all exhibitions together with a carer.

Tickets for the exhibitions are available at the ticket desk.
Tickets for events or guided tours are available at our online ticket shop.

People with impaired mobility and wheelchair users

The Brandenburg Museum has accessible, step-free entrances to the foyer, ground-floor exhibition hall and historical vaulted hall (access from Neuer Markt courtyard passageway).
A further accessible entrance to the building can be found on the basement level (underground car park).
An accessible lift leads to the basement, mezzanine and first floor. Another lift leads from the Brandenburg.Workshop on the first floor to the Brandenburg.Studio on the upper floor.

Some of the tables and media stations in the Brandenburg.Exhibition are wheelchair-accessible.

There is a ramp that can be used to access the Potsdam model.

People with partial or total visual impairment

Glass doors are labelled with safety markings. Lifts have braille signage and audible announcements.
Guide dogs are permitted.

The multimedia guide provides audio versions of exhibit texts. A version in German plain language is also available in the multimedia guide.

People with hearing impairment

The ticket desk area is equipped with an induction loop to transmit signals to hearing aids and cochlear implants.

In the Brandenburg.Exhibition:

  • The multimedia guide has a text and spoken version.
  • ‘Living portraits’ are displayed with subtitles.

Accessible toilets

There is a unisex toilet on the basement level for people with impaired mobility.
The toilet doors are marked with a wheelchair symbol and are opened by pressing the button next to the door. Toilets are also fitted with emergency alarms.

Seating at the Brandenburg Museum

Foyer (Ground Floor
There is seating in the foyer next to the entrance and near the museum shop.

Upper foyer (1st floor)
Bench seating is available next to our screen.

Brandenburg.Exhibition (Ground Floor)
In the survey exhibition, there is bench seating near the entrance as well as at some of the media stations and in the 20th century area.

Folding stools can also be loaned free of charge (in the entrance area on the right).
