When is the Brandenburg Museum open?

Tuesday and Wednesday 11 am to 6 pm
Thursday 11 am to 8 pm
Friday to Sunday 11 am to 6 pm
Public Holidays 11 am to 6 pm
Closed on Mondays (except on public holidays)

24.12., 25.12. and 1.1. closed
31.12. from 11 am to 4 pm

Last admission 30 minutes before closing time.

How much is the admission?

Who is entitled to free admission?

Free admission is granted upon presentation of appropriate proof to:
Visitors aged under 18, jobseekers and recipients of basic income support, holders of the Potsdam Mobility Ticket, asylum seekers, ICOM members, members of the German Museum Association and the Brandenburg Museum Association, and journalists

Who is entitled to reduced admission?

Redeuced admission to the exhibitions is available on presentation of appropriate proof to: pensioners, people with severe disabilities (category B) – their accompanying person is admitted free of charge, and participants in the Federal Voluntary Service

Reduced admission to guided tours is available upon presentation of appropriate proof to:
Visitors aged under 18, school pupils, students and apprentices, jobseekers and recipients of basic income support, holders of the Potsdam Mobility Ticket, asylum seekers, ICOM members, members of the German Museum Association and the Brandenburg Museum Association, journalists, pensioners, people with severe disabilities (category B) – their accompanying person is granted free admission, and employees in the Federal Voluntary Service

Where is the entrance to the Brandenburg Museum?

Our visitor adress is:

The visitor entrance is located through the gateway on Neuer Markt.

Where can I park?

Paid parking is available close to the Brandenburg Museum at Neuer Markt (limited number of spaces), Schloßstraße and Yorckstraße.

Is there an audio guide?

We offer a web-based multimedia guide for adults as well as one for children for the Brandenburg.Exhibition. Both can be accessed on your smartphone. If you do not have your own device with you, you can borrow one from the museum.

Which languages are the exhibition texts and audio guides available in?

They are available in German and English as well as in Easy German.

Is there museum shop?

Yes, the museum shop is located in the entrance foyer.
You will find an extensive range of publications covering Brandenburg’s history and current affairs, as well as children’s books and titles specifically related to the special exhibitions. We also offer a selection of souvenirs.
The museum shop’s opening hours correspond to those of the Brandenburg Museum.

Am I allowed to bring food and drinks?

Eating and drinking are not permitted in the exhibition rooms. Carrying food or beverages is also prohibited.

Is there a cafè or restaurant at the museum?

There is no café or restaurant for visitors at the Brandenburg Museum, but we would be happy to recommend somewhere nearby.

Am I allowed to bring animals with me?

Animals are not permitted in the exhibition rooms. Exceptions are made for guide dogs or assistance dogs (provided they are listed on the disability ID card) and official service dogs.

Is there Wi-Fi?

You can use our free Wi-Fi throughout the building. Access details are available at the ticket desk.

Where can I hand in my jacket and bag?

You can store your jacket and bag larger than A4 size in our lockers in the basement.

Can I take my bag or luggage into the exhibition rooms?

You may take your bag or luggage into the exhibition rooms, provided it is no larger than DIN A4 size.

Can I take pictures in the Brandenburg Museum?

Photography and filming for private purposes are permitted in the temporary exhibitions and the Brandenburg.Exhibition. You are welcome to share your photos and videos on your personal social media accounts using the hashtag #brandenburgmuseum and tagging @_brandenburgmuseum.

For commercial film and photography shoots, you will need permission from our press office (presse@gesellschaft-kultur-geschichte.de).

Can I rent rooms for my own events at the Brandenburg Museum?

Our accessible offerings for visitors will be expanded in the future.

Is there seating available in the building or in the exhibition rooms?

Ground Floor Foyer
Seating is available in the foyer right by the entrance and near the museum shop.

Upper Foyer (1st Floor)
A bench is located right next to our screen.

Brandenburg Exhibition (Ground Floor)
In the overview exhibition, seating is available at regular intervals near the media stations, as well as in the 20th-century section, where benches are provided.

You can also borrow folding stools for seating free of charge.

Are assistance dogs allowed?

Yes, assistance dogs are allowed.
